Welcome to Manja Saint Acupuncture
Hi, I’m Manja.
I'm a fully qualified and licensed acupuncturist (Lic. Ac) and a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC). I practise traditional acupuncture with a focus on the Five Element approach. This style of acupuncture works at a deep constitutional level, supporting your body's innate ability to self-regulate and return to its natural stability when disrupted by stress, illness or injury. Treatments focus on the root cause of your condition and your main symptoms, while gently and thoughtfully supporting your physical, mental and emotional health as a whole.
My qualification and professional membership ensure accredited Honours degree-level training and bind me to strict codes of conduct and safe practice. Integrity and compassion are at the heart of my practice, and I’m deeply committed to maintaining a supportive and inclusive clinic space where I work with clients experiencing a range of health challenges, including chronic conditions, pain and anxiety.
I’d love to also welcome you to my clinic.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient treatment method deeply rooted in East Asian traditional approaches to health and well-being. Acupuncture has become recognised worldwide as a safe and effective way to address a wide range of health concerns, in addition to being a well-established intervention for relieving pain. Acupuncture involves the gentle insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate your own body’s healing response.
Gua Sha
Gua sha is a traditional East Asian healing technique and a hands-on
treatment using a smooth-edged tool to gently press-stroke a lubricated area
on your body in a unidirectional and consistent motion. Gua sha smoothes out irregularities in the fascia promoting normal circulation to tissues, muscles and organs. Gua sha is documented to ease pain and inflammation and supports your body’s natural immune defences. This treatment raises temporary marks to your skin’s surface - a normal physiological response to treatment.
Dry cupping
Dry cupping involves placing sterile cups on your skin using suction to draw skin tissue inside these cups holding your skin in place momentarily. Suction creates negative pressure lifting muscle fibres
and increasing blood flow releasing tension to an area where you experience tightness or discomfort. Due to the suction mechanism, cupping leaves temporary round marks on your skin.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion involves the targeted warming of specific acupuncture points or a particularly cold/deficient area of your body by using a compressed herb called mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris, argyii or princeps).
Moxibustion is commonly used alongside acupuncture due to its penetrating warmth and therapeutic properties. There are different moxibustion techniques which can be applied directly or indirectly to the site of treatment on yourbody.

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a holistic health care system. It originated in China and other East Asian cultures where it still features as an integral part in mainstream healthcare. Acupuncture is based on a complex network of channels beneath the skin. According to Chinese medical theory, these channels distribute a ‘vital energy’ – known as qi – and link and regulate all activities and areas in our bodies.
Who & why?

Many people seek acupuncture for support with a wide range of health conditions, for targeted symptom relief or to address unexplained physical symptoms. Your first appointment can take up to two hours, allowing us plenty of time for
a Traditional Diagnosis. This means we will talk about your main symptom(s)
and review your health history, including any current medications and past or ongoing medical diagnoses and investigations. We also discuss your day-today health (eg. digestion, sleep, appetite) and I will carry out simple physical tests such as taking your blood pressure and pulses, assessing your temperature distribution and looking at your tongue. These tests are diagnostically important to help me fully understand your condition.
Follow up appointments last up to one hour. We will review your progress in each session.

I follow rigorous safe practice guidelines, my clinic is licenced by Warwick District Council and I hold full insurance to practice acupuncture and adjunct therapies as listed on this website. Acupuncture is gentle and minimally invasive. Needles are hair-thin, sterile and single use. Most clients feel little to no discomfort upon insertion. There are fleeting sensations associated with acupuncture once a needle is in position. These are often described by clients as a ‘heaviness’ sensation, a warm feeling’ or a short-lived dull ache.
It’s your personal choice, but letting your GP or consultant know is recommended. Acupuncture is a complementary medicine that can be safely used alongside conventional medical care. A fully licensed and well-trained acupuncturist will take the time to understand your health history and will pay careful attention to medical factors that call for a modified approach to your treatments.
Acupuncture is a remarkable medical treatment that offers significant health benefits, but it is not a magic bullet. Its effects are cumulative, meaning improvement builds over a number of treatments. I usually recommend three to five sessions, with each treatment typically carried out on a once weekly basis in order to establish and maintain treatment momentum. Some people notice improvements before completing this initial course, while others may need additional sessions. Responses to treatment vary from person to a person and depend on whether your condition is acute or long-standing.
